Dark Entries is proud to release the debut vinyl EP from Bézier entitled “Ensconced.” Bézier is the moniker of all-live-analog electronic wizard Robert Yang from San Francisco. Enchanted by the Cybernetic Broadcasting System (CBS), Robert started DJing as Robot Hustle, joining the Honey Soundsystem collective in 2007. Robert writes hooks, patterns and melodies in an automatic, stream of consciousness fashion. … is the highly anticipated and Anna’s first release in co-operation with the Mannequin label from Rome, Italy. CHROMAGAIN were Luca Pastore (bass, guitar, synthesiser, lyrics, backing vocals), Silvio Ferrero (synthesisers) and Davide Bassino (vocals, lyrics) from Torino, Italy, and was formed in 1982. CHROMAGAIN had two other singers (at first Riccardo Acuto, then Danilo ‘Dana’ Barbero) before Davide Bassino joined as the main vocalist and core member. They started as a post-punk outfit in 1982, then evolving to one of the top-notch Italian electronic dark wave bands. Anna Logue Records collaborates with their good friends Medical Records across the pond in the US to present the long out of print Neue Deutsche Welle cult classic album Weltweit by MONOPOL. Released in 1982, Weltweit was the sole output of the band. It has appropriately become quite rare and difficult to find with the resulting high prices to obtain an original copy. Inspired by the greats such as Kraftwerk, YMO and Klaus Schulze, the three members crafted an exquisite collection of pop songs played on a very impressive collection of analog synthesizers, self-builds and drum machines that were considered cutting edge at the time. The band would have recorded a second album but split up before that was possible. Members of the band continued to be involved in the music industry at least peripherally but didn’t participate in further collaborations or bands. Originally formed as Sandra Plays Electronics by Karl O’Connor in 1988, the project has evolved over the years to become a collaborative endeavor with Juan Mendez (aka Silent Servant). Three of the tracks were first released as an Untitled 10” on Downwards in 2010, and the record quickly sold out. Those songs have been re-edited and remastered for this EP, and three more rare demos and live versions have been added. The songs can be described as hypnotic industrial electronic mantras with enigmatic keyboards and treated vocals. Each track draws the listener in, with its repetitive psychedelic percussion and dark affected vocal. The Actor is a well known but simultaneously quite obscure minimal wave project that emerged from the Dutch home taping scene of the early 1980s. The duo was formed by Marcel Reimer (vocals, keyboards) and Sander Horsthuis (keyboards) in Breda, The Netherlands in late 1981. Influences were DAF, Soft Cell, Depeche Mode and Fad Gadget. Guitars were no option, “because the amplifiers would mar the stage.”The Actor caught the attention of cult cassette label Trumpett through their powerful live act and were signed to the label in April 1982. Their first, self-produced album was released in September 1982 as ‘Exploded View’ (an exploded view of a cassette tape was featured on the sleeve): Ten quite simply arranged synthpop tracks that were dynamic and danceable, with lyrics sung both in English and German, relating to the modern world, fashion, dancing, fame, appearance and self-image. We’re proud to present an album by a good friend and very talented Canadian musician named Tona Ohama. Ohama was first featured on The Found Tapes compilation (2007) with “T.V.” and then on The Minimal Wave Tapes: Volume 1 (2010) with “My Time (Demo)” and most recently on The Minimal Wave Tapes: Volume 2 (2012) with “The Drum”, which was also selected and edited by J. Rocc. The Potato Farm Tapes is an album of his early output, featuring some songs from his first cassette entitled Midnite News (1982) and other rare tracks that only have only appeared on compilations thus far. Minimal Wave is excited to present a remastered reissue of Soma Holiday‘s cult classic, Shake Your Molecules. Soma Holiday was a Franco-American duo consisting of Jean-Marc Vallod (FR) and Jane Honicker (US), based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn back in the early 1980s. They recorded “Shake Your Molecules” along with “Too Many People” and “Art Dimension” in 1984, at Unique Studios in Manhattan. The studio was known for being the first NYC studio with MIDI capabilities. With the help of Eric Dufaure, they had their 12” released on Cachalot Records in France, and later a further pressing was made by Les Disques Du Soleil Et De L’Acier. Whilst in NYC, they worked with Jay Burnett, a protégé of Arthur Baker, who was active in the synth-pop, hip hop and electro scenes. He engineered their 24 track recording sessions at Unique and later went on to collaborate with Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch of the Beastie Boys on a 12” for Def Jam as well as doing a mix of the cult classic I.O.U. by Freeez. These are recordings based on their live sets as well as the first recordings of Sandra Electronics that were made in Birmingham during the late 1980’s and 90s. The A side of the tape features reworked rehearsal takes of tracks which first appeared on the early Downwards 7"s and in 2011 were released as part of the White Savage Dance EP. They also include two versions of Her Needs, which we had released under the Sandra Plays Electronics pseudonym in March, 2013. The B side of the tape contains the original recordings from those Downwards 7"s, all made in Birmingham during the late 1980’s and 90s. FINAL PROGRAM was a pioneering Scottish minimal synth band, formed in Stirling in 1978. The first version of the band consisted of Richie Program and Anne Droid who went fully electronic when EDP launched their first affordable synth, the Wasp, and guitars were ditched. In 1981 they released the instrumental 7"EP "Protect and survive" which was also played by John Peel causing it to sell out rather quickly. When Anne left the band, Kennie J. Young was added as a vocalist and Al Robertson joined for a while but went on to form 100% MAN MADE FIBRE. Richie and Kennie toured around Scotland and recorded a 12 track vocal demo album which as other efforts did not lead to signing a deal with a record company. Richie joined forces with Sean Kelly and John Sharp from THOSE FRENCH GIRLS and they formed SEAN NOVAK who released one 12" in 1984 when FINAL PROGRAM eventually disbanded.
